Ojojona is a municipality of Francisco Morazán's department in Honduras, according to any historical information it is not a date of exact foundation, some writings appear that its foundation was in 1,569 for Spanish miners dedicated to the works of the golden mines and silver of the zone. Its name comes from the Mexican term joxone and from the voices lencas oxorxona that means Greenish Water. Its agreeable climate, its varied crafts, its saucers and the amiability of his people, are a part of the attraction of the municipality of Ojojona, a people that still preserves his influence of colonial architecture.

                                                                         Geographical location

The Municipality of Ojojona's borders; in the northern part with the municipality of the Central District and Lepaterique, in the southern part with the municipality of  Reitoca, in the eastern part with the municipality of Santa Ana , in the western part with the municipalities of Lepaterique and Reitoca. Its territorial extension is of: 239.4 Km ².

The municipality in its urban area, is composed by the historical center and they are located in the square:  the catholic churches, historical houses, the municipality   likewise possesses three churches, the municipal market, three handcrafted flags (that there are administered by  The Town hall, The House of the Culture, small handcrafted shops, cafeterias that constitute a part of the Cultural Heritage of the Municipality. Ojojona counts with: 8 villages and 105 hamlets.






Access and Transport 

Ojojona possesses service of transport in a schedule of:
- 4:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Ojojona-Tegucigalpa.
- 6:20 to 7:30 p.m. Tegucigalpa. - Ojojona.

We counts with a service of internal transport of motorcycle taxi with a schedule of:
- 6:00 am to 9:00 pm.
